For the Odd Couple poster it was important to me that we find one iconic image that captured the central conflict between the characters. The poster also needed to be bright, eclectic, neurotic and just a little bit messy to capture the crazy upbeat comedy of the show.
This poster project paired me once again with fabulous photographer, Evan Wisheropp. Evan tried a variety of poses with the two characters, alternating which character was being annoying and which character was making eye contact with the viewer. We got a lot of good photos from the shoot, but this one was the clear winner.
Point of pride: check out how nicely the individual hairs on our beleaguered heroine stand out against the backdrop. Cutting hairs from a background is no mean feat. In this case I was able to isolate the background color and remove it, then apply a clipping lens over the hairs with a linear dodge effect to give them that lovely backlit look.
